New England Patriots Talk: Tom Brady Breaks 1000 Career Rushing Yards And Chemistry Builds With Josh Gordon
The New England Patriots defeated the Minnesota Vikings 24-10 on Sunday at Gillette Stadium. The win moves the Patriots to 9-3 on the season sitting one game back in the AFC behind the 10-2 Kansas City Chiefs.
QB Tom Brady had 311 passing yards and a touchdown with a 34-of-32 passing line in what was a very productive afternoon for the 41-year-old QB. Brady who holds countless amount of records and career milestones reached another on Sunday with Brady reaching 1000 career rushing yards with 2 attempts totaling 5 yards.
For Brady hitting this particular milestone is a rather unimportant moment with future hall of famer joking about hitting 1000 after the game.
“Hopefully I don’t go backwards next week. So, yeah, it was good to get the win, you know? That’s what I’m most excited about. So, happy we won, 9-3 and we’ve got a big one against Miami.” Brady told the media.
As for the ball, Brady doesn’t know where it is and brought it back to his offensive line for blocking up front to provide room for him to run for the first down.
“I don’t know. I’m not going to save the ball. I don’t know where it went. But, yeah, just played a lot of football and obviously I’m not a scrambler, but hopefully I can make a couple plays running for it. Made a good third down on that one. I just give a lot of credit to the offensive line. They blocked their tails off today against a good front, and I don’t want to make too much of a 4 or 5-yard gain. That wasn’t really the difference in the game.”
Brady Didn’t Look At Josh Gordon Early But When He Did, Gordon Delivered The Knockout Blow To The Vikings
Patriots wideout Josh Gordon couldn’t seem to find the ball in the first half but in the second half he and Brady were locked in. As for the lack of first half production to Gordon Brady had no answer.
“I’m not sure. It’s just sometimes it just goes to different guys, and sometimes more Julian [Edelman], Josh, a lot of guys to get the ball to, so it’s just whoever’s open usually gets it. I’m trying to find the most open guy.”
But Gordon did have a big second half for New England. Gordon finished the game hauling in 3 catches on 3 targets for 58 yards including a 24-yard touchdown reception to give the Patriots a critical 17-10 lead after the extra point from Stephen Gostkowski. Gordon after the game talked about getting involved in the third quarter.
“It was great. You know, I just had to be patient. I think that’s just how the flow of the game was going. We all let it play itself out. It was great to just get an opportunity, make a play and the rest of it was just fun.” Gordon said.
Belichick after the game was also questioned on why Gordon wasn’t involved early on but he brought it back to the plays he did make.
“Yeah, he made a couple of explosive plays there. Caught a short pass and broke a tackle and then came open on the in-cut. It was really a good run by him after the first catch and then just matched up well. We had good protection. Tom [Brady] made a good throw on the touchdown pass, so the plays were well-executed. They just came back to back, so it was great.” Belichick said.
Gordon and the New England Patriots take on their divisional rival Miami Dolphins with a 1:00 pm kick-off down in Miami.
