It has been reported and is noted in his twitter bio, but the Bryant University Bulldogs have added former top 100 recruit Melo Eggleston. Eggleston, a 6’8″ sophomore guard, played his freshman year at Wake Forest in the 2017-18 season. He then transferred to Arkansas State. After he sat in the 2018-19 season, he played the 2019-2020 season for the Red Wolves.
Melo Eggleston played well in his time at Arkansas State over 20 games. In those 20 game, Eggleston averaged 8.4 points per game and came down with 5.1 rebounds per game. He was able to do this in 20.4 minutes per game. That was a lot more playing time then what he got at Wake Forest.
Eggleston averaged 5 minutes per game in the 21 games he appeared in at Wake Forest in the 2017-18 season. In that time, he averaged 1 point per game and came down with 1.1 rebounds per game.
Luke Sutherland Transferring Into Bryant
Luke Sutherland, who played his freshman season for the Siena Saints in 2019-2020, announced on his twitter account that he will be transferring to Bryant University.
While playing the 2019-2020 season for the Siena Saints, Sutherland saw limited action. In just 7 games, the 6′ 7″ forward saw 4.6 minutes of action per game. In that time, Sutherland put up .7 points per game and came down with 1 rebound per game.
Bryant Is Losing Patrick Harding To Columbia
Earlier this week, it was reported that Patrick Harding will be transferring to Columbia University of the Ivy league. Harding will sit one season before playing the following two. The 6’9″ big man has been a monster on the boards, being one of the top rebounders in the nation over the last two seasons.
In 32 games for the Bulldogs in 2019-2020, Harding averaged 8.8 rebounds per game. That was a total of 280 rebounds and 11 double digit rebound games. His high on the season for rebounds came against Cornell back on November 10th. Harding came down with 19 rebounds in that 82-81 win.
Adding both Melo Eggleston and Luke Sutherland should help the Bulldogs on the defensive end just based on their size. Bryant for the last few years, has been a much smaller team. Adding that size when they lost Harding to Columbia, will be very helpful for them in 2020-2021.
