Boston Bruins Send Another Prospect Back To AHL Providence With Jakob-Forsbacka Karlsson Being Sent Back Down After Disappointing Showing
Another day, another young Boston Bruins forward being sent back down to the AHL.
Today it was 22-year-old forward Jakob-Forsbacka Karlsson who was assigned to the AHL Providence Bruins with GM Don Sweeney making the announcement on Sunday.
JFK has scored two goals in nine games with Boston this season while also appearing in nine games with Providence this season tallying just one goal and three assists for four points.
Karlsson has been a healthy scratch the last two games and Bruce Cassidy didn’t like his compete level versus the Toronto Maple Leafs last Monday after receiving the opportunity to center a top line for Boston. Karlsson who is a former second round pick back in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft racked up 15 goals and 17 assists across 58 appearances with Providence back in the 2017-18 season, his first professional season after coming out of Boston University.
JFK clearly needs more time down in the AHL to raise his compete level but he is part of a rather large group of young Bruin players who have yet to take a step forward this season. Plenty of time to right the ship with the young players but at some point progress has to be made.
