On Wednesday the New England Revolution II signed Revs Academy midfielder Dennis Ramirez of Waltham to their USL League One roster. Ramirez is the second Revolution Academy player to sign a contract with Revs II with the first being Meny Silva.
The 18-year-old joined the academy in 2018 and has appeared in 33 matches, 30 starts, over the past two seasons and can play on the back-line as a defender and in the midfielder. Ramirez has played in all four preseason matches with Revs II including the two against USL Championship’s Hartford Athletic.
With the addition of Ramirez the roster for Revs II is now at 15 ahead of their inaugural USL League One season. One of the primary selling points in having Revs II was building a bridge between the academy and the first team. Ramirez and Silva have taken the next step in getting to Revs II and time will tell if the end of their bridges end in first team action.
The Revolution have been for pro-active in recent years in developing young players and have signed seven players to pro-deals with the first team and now two with the second team.
