New England Revolution Announce New U-12 Development League Kicking Off This Fall Further Promoting The Sport In New England
The New England Revolution are taking another major step forward for youth soccer in the local area.
Just months after announcing that the Revolution Academy and the first team would be under the same roof at the new training grounds the club has announced a brand new u-12 development league.
In an announcement on Thursday the club said the league will kick off on September 7th and is “sanctioned and supported by US Club Soccer”. The goal of the league is to provide local competitive matches in a structured manner.
The league will be made up of 8-10 regionalized games in New England across the Fall and Spring seasons. There will be crossover weekends with other MLS development leagues and tournament weekends for outside competition.
“We’re incredibly excited for this opportunity to expand youth development within the New England region while working alongside the leading clubs,” RDL Director Gary Hall said. “We hope that this innovative league will raise the level of competition across all of the clubs involved and further solidify the connection between the Revolution and our neighboring clubs.”
There will be 7 clubs in the inaugural run, Bayside FC, Boston Bolts, Global Premier Soccer, NEFC, Oakwood SC, Seacoast United, and Valeo FC. Participants born on or after Jan. 1, 2008 are eligible to play in the U-12 games, while those born in 2009 are also able to qualify.
Player registration will open on Monday, July 15 and will close on Saturday, Aug. 31. Additional registration information will be communicated at a later date per the club’s statement.
