PawSox Outfielder Rusney Castillo Named IL Player Of The Week After Raising Batting Average By 30 Points
In the past week Pawtucket Red Sox outfielder Rusney Castillo has risen his batting average by 30 points and that earned him some International League honors.
Castillo on Monday morning was named as the IL player of the week going 15-23 with two home runs, two doubles raising his batting average from .249 to .289.
The Cuban product who overall had a rocky start to his 2019 season has continued to develop as a hitter with a career low strikeout rate of 9%.
Unfortunately due to his contract numbers it remains very difficult to envision a future for him in Boston or via a trade with another team.
The 31-year-old is batting .289 with 6 home runs and 36 RBIs in 228 at-bats.
