Bryant University Bulldogs Drop Tough Game Against The Fairleigh Dickinson Knights Even With 28 Points From Adam Grant
The Bryant University Bulldogs faced off against the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights on Saturday afternoon at the Chace Athletic Center. While the game was pretty close for most of the game, the Knights were able to make the plays they needed to make at the end to win. The Bulldogs fell to the Knights by a score of 77 to 73 to fall to 1 and 1 in NEC play on the season.
Adam Grant had his second highest scoring total of the season on the afternoon with 28 points. His highest scoring output on the season was against the University Of New Hampshire on November 26th when he scored 29 points. On Saturday afternoon, Grant was 7 for 14 from three point range and 9 for 17 overall. He also added 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
“They made shots and we didn’t” said Bryant head coach Jared Grasso after the game. “I wouldn’t call it execution. We got a lot of good shots. They didn’t go down. They stepped up and made shots and they did better then us today”.
Hall Elisias Injury Opened The Paint For The Knights
On Thursday afternoon, Hall Elisias injured his shoulder. Today, they tried to give it a go and have him play. But after playing for 4 minutes, Bryant head coach Jared Grasso decided to take Elisias out of the game.
“Hall Elisias was out with his shoulder. Couldn’t go, tried to go. Shoulder was bothering him. He got hurt last game” said coach Grasso after the game.
“Just trying to figure out lineups without him out there. We’re used to having him behind our defense and not having him there made us adjust a little bit on the fly” added coach Grasso when talking about the ability of Elisias on the defensive end.
Grasso added “obviously you see how much better we are defensively when he’s on the floor then when he’s not. They had 42 points in the paint. That’s not happening when he’s out there”.
Defensively, the Bulldogs are better with Elisias on the floor. But Jared Grasso didn’t use his injury as an excuse. They needed the next guy up to be able to get in the paint to keep the Knights from scoring.
Jared Grasso didn’t seem too worried about the injury to Elisias. He did add that if it was later on in February or March, he would have let him stay out there and play. But because it was in January, he was thinking about the long term.
What’s Next For The Bulldogs
The Bulldogs won’t play another game until next Saturday afternoon. That’s when they will host the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers at 4:00 PM. Fans will be able to watch that game on NEC Front Row.
