Boston Bruins Are Already Having Injury Troubles
Boston Bruins are coming off a tough road trip, in all senes of the word. During the trip, they lost Kevan Miller, Charlie McAvoy, and Urho Vaakanainen last night. This leaves the Bruins with only 4 defensemen. This means the B’s will have to make at least one call-up as Torey Krug is still out with the ankle injury. The B’s will once again have to lean on youth to get them through this tough spot.
As of right now Miller and McAvoy are still out. We have not heard an update in the past couple of days. Although it does sound like Krug will be ready to go for Thursday. This still leaves the team with only 5 D.
Bruce Cassidy provided the following injury updates after practice in Ottawa:
Torey Krug: “Was on his way to skate with us, but had flight issues. He’s back skating.”
Kevan Miller: “Saw doctor. Will have further update on him when we get back [home]. Definitely out tomorrow.”

The Bruins will most likely dip into the Providence Bruins Roster. They most likely will bring up Jeremy Lauzon or Jakub Zboril as these two had a great camp. On the other hand, the B’s may look to make a signing or a trade. The only issue is they would have to part with at least one prospect to get any kind of decent D man this early in the season. A plan of last resort would be to make a deal as they did with Brian Gionta and find an old veteran free agent D man for cheap.
Along with the defensive injuries David Backes was also hurt on the road trip and it is believed that he had concussion-like symptoms. Overall the Bruins roster depth is being tested early. Also in general outside of the top line, the B’s have had a tough time putting goals on the board. Hopefully, this quick homestand can get them back on track.
