Boston Should Give Bryce Brentz A Chance
Boston Should Give Bryce Brentz A Chance Before They Lose Him For Good
Pawtucket Red Sox slugger Bryce Brentz has been killing the baseball the last few months. His bat has helped propel him into the International League Home Run Derby Crown and given Boston something to think about.
With September call-ups right around the corner, the question is why not Brentz?
But with many speculating about a Brentz call-up, he is unwilling to play GM.
One of the issues with Brentz is he plays left and right field. Something the recently acquired Rajai Davis can do as well. But what Brentz brings to Boston is the pop they so desperately need. Bryce has smacked 30 home runs for Pawtucket this season with a .282 avg and 82 RBIs in 412 at-bats.

Red Sox Injury Report: Betts Leaves Game Early, Day-to-Day
Boston Red Sox Injury Report: Mookie Betts Leaves Game Early, Day-to-Day
Mookie Betts has been less than spectacular this season. While an injury isn’t what he or the Red Sox were looking for, maybe it will provide some much needed time away to reset.
Betts left Thursday night’s game with the Cleveland Indians with a right knee contusion and according to the club is day-to-day. Betts’s injury leaves Boston short in the outfield with Jackie Bradley Jr. already on the DL.
But with the influx of Rajai Davis and Bryce Brentz in AAA, it is in my opinion that Betts should be placed on the DL. Not specifically for the injury, but for the previously mentioned time away to reset.
Betts is hitting .263 this season for the Boston Red Sox, he is still making plays, but something hasn’t clicked for him in 2017. Betts had surgery
Betts had surgery on the knee this past offseason and had swelling post-game. No MRI is scheduled according to John Farrell, but Boston should take every precaution necessary with this. Throw Betts up on the 10-day-dl. Allow his knee to fully heal up and maybe the time away will help him in the long run at the plate.

Pawtucket Red Sox vs Buffalo Bison Game Preview
Pawtucket Red Sox vs Buffalo Bison Game Preview
On Thursday, August 24th the Pawtucket Red Sox take on the Buffalo Bison on Kyrie Irving night at McCoy Stadium.
Jalen Beeks will take the mound for Pawtucket with a 3.00 ERA and a 6-4 record going against Bison starter Brett Anderson who holds a 0-1 record and a 2.25 ERA.
Scheduled first pitch for this one is 7:05 pm with Pawtucket owning a 62-68 record and Buffalo sitting at 59-71 on the season.
After this game, there will only be 3 home games remaining for the Pawtucket Red Sox with the team finishing up their season on the road. Every win counts with just 12 games remaining, Pawtucket will have to go 9-3 in order to finish the season at a .500 record.
To give some perspective, the PawSox have finished .500 or better 5 of the last 6 years with last seasons record sitting at 74-68. But Kevin Boles and company have once again had a tough go of things. This is primarily due to the high call up totals to the Boston Red Sox.
Since the All-Star break, the PawSox have been involved in 77 player transactions, that is only a 41-day time period.
Roster moves were made of Thursday’s game in-fact. Both Deven Marrero and Hector Velazquez were optioned to Pawtucket to make room for Blaine Boyer and Rajai Davis in Boston.
Statistically, the PawSox are eliminated from any post-season play this season, everything from here on out is playing for pride and the future.
Here are tonights starting lineups.
