The PawSox roster is still taking shape but two of the locked-in players are getting an invite to Boston’s Major League Spring Training. Those two players are Domingo Tapia and Jantzen Witte.
Tapia, 28-years-old, was actually a non-roster invite in 2019 as well but spent the entire season with Triple-A Pawtucket. The hard-throwing Tapia who can hit triple-digits with his fastball appeared in 44 games in 2019 posting a 5.18 ERA.
As for Witte, the infielder who is now 29-years-old is getting his first look at a big-league camp. The former 24th round pick had an impressive season in 2019 batting .271 with 22 doubles and nine home runs. Witte who primarily plays the corners turned in what was a very consistent 2019 campaign and the opportunity is well deserved.
In addition to the two non-roster invites, the PawSox had some new faces added to their roster by Boston as well. Outfielder John Andreoli, RHP Robinson Leyer, C Jett Bandy, LF Nick Longhi, RHP R.J. Alvarez, and LHP Mike Kickham.
All six of those players are also non-roster invites to Boston’s Major League Spring Training camp.
