New England Revolution Midfielder Zachery Herivaux Called In To Play For Hati’s National Team

On Thursday afternoon the New England Revolution announced that 22-year-old homegrown midfielder Zachery Herivauz was being called in to play for Hati’s National Team.

Herivaux is being called in to play in Hati’s upcoming friendly match against Argentina’s “A” National team. This is Herivaux’s second call-up to the Haitian National Team with his debut being back on October 10th 2017 for Hati’s senior team in a friendly against Japan.

In that match, the Brookline Massaccheusett’s native played all 90 minutes and even recorded an assist in a 3-3 draw. The HomeGrown Player is expected to miss two Revolution regular season matches with the May 26th at Vancouver Whitecaps FC and the May 30th vs. Atlanta United FC being the two he is expected to miss.

In the 2018 MLS season, Herivaux has made one substitute appearance and has had six additional selections to the 18-man matchday roster. His performance has certainly drawn attention with Head Coach Brad Friedel talking just this week about using Herivaux in an advanced midfield role.

“We put him in the game a little bit higher up the field because we still wanted to get pressure as much as we could to their center backs. And also when Michael Bradley pushed into the midfield, [we wanted to get Zach] onto Michael Bradley. That was the reason that we put Zach in. Zach can play as a six, eight, or as a 10 depending on the system that you’re playing in. It’s very good to have versatile players like that in your team.”

Herivaux was the third HomeGrown Player in the team’s history to sign and began his career with the Revs in the Revolution Academy and was named the inaugural UnitedHealthcare Academy Player of the Year back in 2014.

New England Revolution Injury Report: Juan Agudelo Remains Questionable, Angking Remains Sidelined, And Diego Fagundez Suspended

The New England Revolution have released their injury report ahead of Saturday’s match against Columbus Crew SC. Not many shockers on this list with the names being very similar to last week’s match against Toronto.

The only Revs player that is listed as out for the moment is midfielder Isaac Angking who remains sidelined with an illness. As for questionable the only player on this one is forward Juan Agudelo who is still dealing with a hamstring issue he suffered two weeks ago.

Agudelo is expected to be a match-day decision with Head Coach Brad Friedel alluding to Agudelo being unlikely for the match against Columbus but seems more hopeful in the following week.

 “Juan [Agudelo] is good. He’s coming along nicely, hasn’t had any setbacks – knock on wood – to his recovery. I don’t know if he’ll be ready for this weekend, but if he’s not ready for this weekend, then hopefully next.”

The only other player who is listed on the report is forward Diego Fagundez who will miss the match as he is serving a one-game yellow card accumulation suspension he was handed in last week’s win over Toronto.

Friedel isn’t too worried about the absence of his “Number 10” with the Revs having plenty of depth and other options they can plug into that role against Columbus.

“We have a lot of options, to be honest with you. We have Kelyn [Rowe], we have Zach [Herivaux], we also have another midfield trio of Wilfried [Zahibo], Luis [Caicedo], and Scott Caldwell. We can play numerous players in the 10 position. [Cristian] Penilla can even play as a 10. There’s a lot of options and that’s a good thing with the squad that we have. We have a lot of players that can fill in for other players and we have a lot of players that, once they do get a chance, they can keep places. That’s a good thing to have.”

The latest injury report from Columbus has midfielder Pedro Santos listed with a hamstring injury and that is it. No word on if Santos will play or not at this point.

The New England Revolution will take on Columbus Crew SC on Saturday, May 19th at 7:30 pm at home in Gillette Stadium.

New England Revolution Will Have To Overcome Columbus Crew SC Defensive Hot Streak With Columbus Riding Three Straight Clean Sheets Into Town

The New England Revolution will take on Columbus Crew SC this Saturday in Gillette Stadium just weeks after they faced Columbus on the road.

In that road matchup the Revs were able to come away with a draw, a result they were content with given their opponent and environment.

“Columbus is very, very good. And you’re going to have to take chances and risks going forward and try and score on them and you got some outstanding players going for them. Greg’s done a tremendous job here. We are just starting out with our staff, but we are going to try and win every game. So today, 2-2 and I am happy about that with going behind twice.”  Said Revs Head Coach Brad Friedel following the April 21st match.

Forward Juan Agudelo at the time also thought the result was a character building night with him saying:“It shows a lot of character. A lot of positive things, understanding that we have the ability to come back against any team, and we showed that today.”

But since these two teams played each other the Revs have played 3 matches with a 2-1 record while the Crew have played 4 matches with a 3-0-1 record. Columbus has shot up the Eastern Conference standings with a 6-3-3 record putting them in second place right behind Atlanta United who are 8-1-2.

For New England, they have stayed right around the same place in the standings with their record of 5-2-3 putting them in 6th place in the East.

Part of Columbus success has been in part to their ability to keep their opponents out of the back of the net. The Crew have gotten three straight clean sheet performances which came in an 8-day span. The reason behind it according to Columbus’s Head Coach Gregg Berhalter is: “I think that the group has gotten to a place where they understand defending is about 11 guys, and that’s the most important thing,” Berhalter said after the win. “It’s not about the back four and the goalkeeper. It’s not about the midfielders added in. It’s all 11 players. When we defend as a group, we do a great job, and we make it very difficult for the opponent.”.

The Revs will certainly have their hands full with a Columbus team that has seen improvements in less than a months time. Let’s see how the Revs prepare to adjust to these improvements.
