The Boston Celtics are always connected to a number of players in the trade market especially now with one acquisition potentially being the difference in winning or not winning an NBA Championship this season. One of the rumors currently swirling is actually an idea that has been around for the last several months.
According to Ronald Tillery who works the Memphis Grizzlies beat, there is a real idea that Tyreke Evans will be traded to Boston ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
Evans is a 28-year-old wing who has been in the NBA since 2009-10 when he was drafted by the Sacremento Kings with the 4th overall pick in the draft. Evans had a hot start to his NBA career notching the Rookie of the Year honors but quickly took steps back in his game that ultimately dropped him from a $10 million-plus year player to a player that has to now prove himself to warrant a multi-year extension this offseason.
Evans signed a 1-year deal in the offseason with Memphis valued at $3.3 million. This contract was clearly a bet on himself type of deal and he has certainly responded averaging 19.4 points per game which is the second highest he has averaged in his entire career.
Acquiring Evans would provide Boston with another scoring option and is an acquisition that in theory could be done without breaking the bank. It is unclear if this rumor will come to fruition, but it does seem like a feasible outcome for Danny Ainge and the Boston Celtics.
