With the Summer Olympics and its small 18-player roster looming this Summer a lot of the attention during Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski’s press conference was directed towards the Olympic roster. Andonovski has held the Olympic roster decision making very close to his chest and at times has joked that there are still 18 spots up for grabs.
When asked if the 18-players would come out of this 23-player roster he was quick to note that a player who isn’t on this camp’s roster could be on the Olympic roster. The team will take into account not only the performances during training camps but also the performance for one’s own club. The NWSL Challenge Cup performance and the subsequent regular season will play a role in how the roster is built out. As of now, USWNT is shooting for a June timeframe to have the 18-player Olympic roster set.
USWNT will play a friendly against Sweden on April 10th at 1:10 p.m. ET and then another one against France at 3:10 p.m. ET on April 13th.
