Revolution Defeat Rapids In Weather Delayed Game, Unbeaten In Their Last 7 Matches
On Thursday the New England Revolution took on the Colorado Rapids at Dicks Sporting Goods Park.
The Revs defeated the Rapids 2-1 in what was a weather delayed game that ended in the early morning hours of Friday.
Due to inclement weather the games kickoff was delayed by roughly an hour and New England once the game started looked rather dominant with forward Teal Bunbury scoring a goal in the 8th minute to make it 1-0.
This was Bunbury’s 50th career MLS goal and his fifth in New England’s last six contests.
With multiple delays due to weather there was an abbreviated 8-minute half-time which followed with New England doubling their lead in the 52nd minute with a goal by Juan Fernando Caicedo.
Colorado did threaten the lead with a goal int he 71st minute but goalkeeper Matt Turner locked down.
Turner made a game winning type of save in the 89th minute off a set piece to help the Revs come away with a second straight road win.
New England is now unbeaten in 7 straight matches with an 4-0-3 record since firing Head Coach Brad Friedel. With the win the Revs move to 6-8-5 on the season which is good for 23 points, 8th place in the Eastern Conference.
