The New England Revolution are getting underway slightly earlier than expected. On Friday it was announced that their next 2020 Major League Soccer regular season match would be played on Thursday August 20 rather than Friday August 21. The match will still be played at 7:30 p.m. and take place at a fanless Gillette Stadium.
In addition, the broadcast information for the match remains the same with the local feed being NBC Sports Boston and 98.5 The Sports Hub. Those outside the Boston market can stream the match on ESPN+.
This change actually de-condenses their first six matches of home market return with one extra day to prepare for match two which is scheduled for Thursday, August 25th at D.C. United.
There is a slight fallout on this schedule change but it doesn’t affect the first team. The Revolution II match against the Richmond Kickers which was supposed to be on August 20th at Gillette has been relegated to August 21st. Essentially the first and second team swapped match days.
