Boston Cannons Lose In Overtime Against The Ohio Machine
The Boston Cannons had a tough loss on Thursday night at home.
Boston was defeated in overtime by the Ohio Machine in a 16-15 final at home.
The Cannons got off on the right foot with Joe Nardella winning the opening faceoff and then ran down the field to put Boston up 1-0 to start the match. But the hot start was not enough to overcome the Machine. With the los the Cannons drop to 3-6 on the season
Davey Emala and Kylor Bellistri both scored four-goals apiece in the game with Bellistri following up an eight-point performance in the previous game.
Boston Cannons goaltender Tyler Fiortio made some big saves in front of the home crowd and his defense ahead of him played tough as well. But the match was clearly an offensive tug-of-war.
The previously mentioned Nardella, was a force to be reckoned with for the Cannons in the faceoff x. He finished the game going 24-of-32 from the faceoff x.
The biggest issue in the game for Boston was their 17-turnovers compared to the Machine who only turned the ball over seven times.
“Turnovers hurt us, sloppy play a little bit. Towards the end of the game we didn’t make that extra pass which hurt us tonight,” said Head Coach Sean Quirk.
The Cannons have some time off before their next game which will take place on the road on July 15th in Rochester, N.Y. If Boston hopes to make the playoffs they will need to start winning games or else they will be going home early this season.
“It’s back to the drawing board now. We can’t lose another game moving forward,” saidWill Manny on the importance of each remaining game.

Boston Cannons Win A Nail Bitter Against Rival New York Lizards In The Friendly Confines Of Harvard Stadium
The Boston Cannons won a crucial game on Saturday to help move the needle in the right direction.
Playing their rivals the New York Lizards, the Cannons were lead by midfielder Max Seibald who had a pair of two-point goals that helped Boston edge out a 16-13 win own their home field Harvard Stadium.
On the defensive side of things, Matt Landis had an effective outing by covering former Cannons star Paul Rabil. Landis’s strong physical defense held Rabil to only two points.
“I think the only way to approach a player like that is to get in his face early and often. If you give him a running start he’s got a lot more freedom to do what he wants to do,” said Cannons defender Matt Landis on covering Lizards midfielder Paul Rabil.
Cannons goalie Tyler Fiorito made some big saves and played one of his best games of the season.
Seibald had a team high six points and Boston Cannons Captain Will Manny added a hat trick along with three assists on the night. Joe LoCascio had just one goal on the night but it proved to be the difference as he widened the lead to two goals with just over 3 minutes remaining. Davey Emala also had a strong performance tonight with a hat-trick.
“We were focused on doing the little things better and playing more as a team. In recent weeks it’s been just individual motion on offense and this week we worked together and created some good opportunities,” said Cannons midfielder Max Seibald.
With the win over New York, the Boston Cannons move to 2-3 on the season as they go into a bye week. The loss for the Lizards drops them to an even 2-2 on the season.
“The biggest thing we’ve struggled with is we get up on some opponents and then we just play individual lacrosse. We got up tonight the guys really stuck together and played team offense and team defense,” said Cannons coach Sean Quirk.
This is the kind of win that the Cannons can feel good about as they head into the bye week just one game shy of .500. After the bye the Cannons will have another home game, this time against the Outlaws on June 3rd.
